Welcome back to our queer film retrospective, “A Gay Old Time.” In this week’s column, let’s revisit a cinematic ode to a groundbreaking queer playwright, 1987’s Prick Up Your Ears.

A large number of entertainment centering queer stories depict our strong sense of community; the found family we find, the social movements we have spearheaded together, the love we find despite all odds. Our collective unity is, for good reason, one of the traits that represents us best.
