Happy heavenly birthday to activist Reggie Williams who fought for the Black queer community during the AIDS Crisis
National Black Justice Coalition
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 29, 1951, Reggie Williams carried a fire for driving change that continues to burn decades after his passing. Through his HIV/AIDS advocacy work, Williams became one of the fiercest advocates for people of color living with HIV in the 1980s and 1990s. And as an activist and organizer, he boldly stood in defiance of the sweeping stigmas and misinformation the queer community encountered as it navigated the early decades of the HIV crisis.
