Harvey Milk’s gay nephew slams Pete Hegseth’s attempt to trash his uncle during Pride Month

As reported yesterday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered the Navy re-name its ship, the USNS Harvey Milk.

Milk was the first out-gay man in the United States to win an election for public office. He won a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977. However, his time in the role was short-lived. He was gunned down, alongside the city’s mayor, George Moscone, in November 1978.

As a younger man, Milk also served in the Navy.
