How Whitney-obsessed creative director Clint Ramos is redefining arts in America

Labels aren’t a thing for Clint Ramos, the multi-hyphenate creative director, designer, advocate, and producer. He rececently received his seventh Tony nomination (costume design) for Maybe Happy Ending, a charming new musical starring Darren Criss and Helen J Shen as discarded robots in futuristic Seoul, South Korea. Ramos was also just named Lincoln Center’s artist-in-residence, a two-year position at one of the nation’s most prestigious cultural institutions.
As part of his Lincoln Center responsibilities, Ramos will curate the 2026 edition of the American Songbook, develop a collaborate art and theater piece, and design costumes for the Met’s new production of Tristan und Isolde. Let’s just say he’s a busy guy and showing no signs of slowing down.
