For political hopefuls, receiving a personal endorsement from the vice president is supposed to be a boon. But that’s not how it worked out for a Republican mayoral candidate in Ohio, who also happens to be the sitting Veep’s half-brother.

On Tuesday, JD Vance offered his support to Cory Bowman in his long-shot bid for Cincinnati mayor.

“Hey Cincinnati! My brother Cory Bowman is running for mayor and is on the ballot today for the primary,” posted Vance on X, several hours before polls closed. “He’s a good guy with a heart for serving his community. Get out there and vote for him!”
