Gay men living with HIV are at an increased risk of anal cancer. The cancer is associated with HPV — the same virus that causes anal warts. The virus can lie dormant for decades before sometimes prompting cancer later in life.

A new study, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, says that if gay and bi men with HIV undergo routine screening for the cancer from the age of 35 onward, their mortality rates could fall by up to 65%.

Like many other cancers, treatment is most effective when the physicians spot suspicious lumps early.

How about we take this to the next level?
