Scientists just made a major breakthrough in HIV cure research

A research team in Australia has announced what they believe is a breakthrough in the search for an HIV cure.
What makes HIV so difficult to treat is the fact the virus can remain hidden in a small number of cells in the body.
These latent reservoirs of the virus will often be undetectable while someone is on treatment. However, if treatment is stopped, the HIV can start to replicate again and overrun the body.
