Two years ago, acclaimed playwright and Oscar winner Tarell Alvin McCraney was in Sydney, Australia, watching a production of his play Choir Boy as World Pride took over the city.
Knowing that the next World Pride would be hosted in Washington, D.C., he felt compelled to sit down and write a new work that would situate the complexities and promises of queer love inside D.C’s weekslong World Pride celebration.
