At this point in the evolution of LGBTQ+ cinema, the “queer coming-of-age” story has become a sub-genre all its own with its own set of familiar tropes and beats.

So it’s especially exciting when a film like I Wish You All The Best comes along, using a familiar framework to tell a story that feels fresh and groundbreaking, bringing something new to the screen.

Based off Mason Deaver’s beloved novel of the same name, the film starts at a low point as we get flashes of teenaged Ben’s (Corey Fogelmanis) painful attempt to come out to their parents as nonbinary, which ends with them being kicked out of their house.
