We all remember the first place where we could exhale and present as the fabulous gay people we are.

Perhaps it was a queer-friendly water hole, or the comfortable confines of a mentor’s home. They are safe spaces we’ll always hold dear, no matter how many years have passed since we’ve walked through their doors.

That doesn’t mean the place has to necessarily be physical, either. There are a multitude of inclusive organizations across the country, from sports leagues to book clubs to acting tropes. These groups act as social hubs, where members are free to frolic and exist among like-minded folks.

For those of a younger generation, maybe the special forum exists in the virtual world, on a social media platform
